Becky Harrison

Becky studied Social Anthropology at the University of Kent, and first became curious about the positive benefits of creativity on wellbeing during her year abroad in Tokyo in 2018/19. She found herself using photography and drawing to help her discover the city and connect with family back at home. To explore this further after graduating, she became a volunteer for the outreach arts programme at the Royal West of England Academy in 2021, providing spaces for families to be creative and listening to parents who seemed to benefit from their own space to pause and get stuck into an activity.

Becky moved to London in 2022 to take part in the Year Here Social Innovation Fellowship, where she explored new ways to tackle social issues and worked in a Tower Hamlets GP practice. Becky found joy in bringing groups of people together to connect. Setting up various creative activities, including coffee mornings, helped bring more vibrance and community into the practice post-lockdown.

Her creative interests coupled with her healthcare-based experiences have inspired Becky to continue providing accessible moments of creativity to a range of local communities.
