Fleur Appleby-Deen
After graduating from Imperial College School of Medicine, Fleur went on to train at Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex Hospitals, London. A few years into her training she developed an illness no specialist could diagnose, leaving her unable to continue working as a doctor. In her search to get well, Fleur explored an array of healing modalities, finding great power in practicing and teaching yoga; meditation; nutrition and other holistic approaches as a means to addressing the root cause of chronic illness.
This culminated in the founding of her company, Dr Fleur, in 2011, coaching individuals and groups through lifestyle changes, nutrition, yoga and stress management as a means to support their own healing process. In 2015 Fleur moved to California where, after 10 years, she was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease. After multiple years of intense and challenging treatment she has gratefully recovered. Now fully immersed in the Functional Medicine movement, Fleur continues to pursue an integrative approach to health both personally and with her clients.
With a keen awareness of the stress of hospital environments on healthcare practitioners and patients alike, A Space Between is a cause she feels passionate about, knowing what profound and extensive benefits the creative, community-led programme will have.
