Lucy Kent - British Artist
Lucy is a British artist and founder of the Art for Charity Collective (ACC). In the first half of 2021, Lucy ran her third ACC auction, this time raising funds for A Space Between, culminating in their biggest collection of artworks to date and raising an extraordinary total of £42,000 for our organisation. Together we created the ACC x ASB therapeutic book, available for sale here and donated to 1500 ICU doctors and nurses, helping bring creative reprieve as Covid will have left mental health in crisis at the frontline.
As an artist, Lucy’s pieces reflect an intensity of light and project a force of life filled with hope. She is also a passionate advocate for supporting artist communities and harnessing the power of “Art for Good”.
Of the importance of art for her own mental wellbeing, Lucy writes: “Art has been so many things in my life and I cannot imagine being without it. It has helped me through heart break, through bad moods and good, helped me deal with anxiety and is a large part of my reason for being. The need to create is so strong, and when I haven’t painted in a while I can feel the scratchiness starting to creep in. It’s my form of meditation, it quiets and stills my mind. Some of my happiest moments have been on painting trips, being absorbed in different lights, colours and cultures. I feel so lucky to have creativity in my life. It has helped my own mental wellbeing beyond measure and has shaped the person I am today.”
The impact Lucy’s direct and extended support will have had on our organisation - the passion and faith she put into elevating our work from the onset of our collaborative journey - could only have led to her joining our ASB family as Ambassador. We are so happy and proud to have her on board.
